Covid-19 update: Client advice on what to do during the Coronavirus crisis
The easiest way to protect your pet
A microchip is a very small chip (the size of a grain of rice) that allows your pet to be identifed when it is found and scanned. Each microchip has a unique number that can be read by portable scanners at most vets, local authorities and rescue shelters. It is placed under the skin between the shoulder blades. Sedation is not necessary as this procedure causes minimal discomfort. It will soon likely become a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped.
Members of our Pet Health Club have a microchip included within their plan! Click here to see the full range of benefits of becoming a member.
At the time of implant we ask you to complete a registration form and your details are then submitted to a single national database. This information is kept for life and the fee for this is included in the cost of implantation. Once the chip number has been identified, a simple phone call can reunite you with your pet 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is important to update any changes in personal contact details. Our microchips comply with the International Standard (ISO) and can therefore be recognised by scanners abroad when used in the Pet Passport Scheme.
